Hi It’s Mini Adorngirl here, and mum has let the mini adorn kids loose and let us take the reins on our blog. We love her fathers day gift guide but we wanted to create one where we pick things for our dad. This is what we picked!
We love Lush! detonating bath bombs could easily be our past time if mum let us. When it came to picking something for dad we had to get something from Lush and this Papa bear gift set was perfect, because with the checkered yellow scarf that wraps up the four piece reminds us of Rupert Bear.
Daddy is always stubbly, and he can be as prickly as a hedgehog. That beard is something we had to take care of. We are selfishly choosing the Dermalogica shave set, and Big Boy (ha big boy) because we want daddy to have smooth skin and a neat beard for when we give him hugs. We picked this Kenneth Cole Blue bottle because we loved the colour but it smells so good, all sweet and warm….so win, win!
Daddy really loves his music and we can get as noisy as we want thanks to these Jam Bluetooth headphones, The only downside will be having to put up with his cringey dad dancing!
A craft party is a perfect chance to spend quality time with the kids, and get creative. Etsy invited us to take part in their paper crafting theme party, and we had a blast. I set the scene with paper honeycombs and print balloons from My Little day, a fresh bouquet from Debenhams flowers and covered the table with Dear Lizzie patterned paper from Hobbycraft.
There are plenty of tutorials on the Etsy blog but the mini adorn kids went to town on their own ideas. Mini Adorngirl took a selfie with her brother with her Fuji Instax mini, framing the Instax film with sticky back ribbon, and covering the joined edges with cute die cut shapes. My son settled on a calendar, after cutting out and creating a lion, gluing to stripe paper, stamping letters, and drew numbers freehand. The tricky part was not taking over, and letting them be. It was such a great day and might become our new weekend tradition.
some craft supplies were were working with
Fujifilm Instax mini 8
Star 3d punch
10 pack paper edges scissors
Dear Lizzy fine & Dandy interchangeable stamp set
Dear Lizzy Fine and Dandy paper
Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy did cut cardstock shapes
The table was a large one, but the three were all crowded together at one corner of it. “No room! No room!” they cried out when they saw Alice coming. “There’s plenty of room!” said Alice indignantly, and she sat down in a large armchair at one end of the table.
Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
It doesn’t have to be a birthday to throw a cool tea party. My Little Day is an online Parisian boutique dedicated to children’s birthdays and has the most prettiest and original decorations that will make you smile. So it was an un-birthday that made the mini adorn kids come together. My little day checkered pink diamond paper plates, and black and white honeycomb paper lanterns paired with a special edition Whittard Alice in Wonderland tea-chest and crockery made for a perfect Alice themed tea party.

It can be hard to find a family activity that everyone will enjoy, especially when the kids are different age ranges. We love to go to Hollywood Bowl in Surrey Quays because it is so family friendly, and brings out all of our competitive streaks. It was half term so we made sure to pre-book a morning game, and we couldn’t forget the twins Samsonite Frozen backpacks with a change of clothes. The kids get a kick out of the fun graphics on the TV screens above the lane after a strike, or spare. When the last pin has fallen and the scores tallied (I came third) it is literally a hop and a skip to the arcade of computer games, Mario Kart and getting infuriated with the chance games.
When was your last family day out? and where did you go?
Festival season is in full swing and the Lollibop festival 2013 sets itself aside from the rest as it is completely for the kids. Swap headline performances like Lady Gaga and Jay Z for your kids heroes like Mr Men, Rasta mouse, the characters from Tickety Toc and Peppa Pig. Set in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park there is a jam-packed line up of family activities, performances on the main stage and is really just about spending quality time with the kids. Expect craft stops, and plenty of picnic areas (although there are plenty of food stands I was super impressed with the variety including Jamaican, Mexican and even a Nandos).
As a mum of four, throughout the holiday it is has been tough to find things to cater to the younger two who are 1, and the older two who are 8 and 6, the activities available are either too old for one pair, or too babyish for the other. Lollibop is specifically for all kids under ten, and the event had a great balance between activities including face painting and discos, great for everyone, but also creating zones like little lollies, and baby pops for the teeniest lolliboppers. To the Discovery zone, and the Skylander imagination station with huge flat screens to play the game. Unfortunately I was on my own and I don’t drive so only brought the older two ( and it is such a shame as the twins would have loved it especially the Legoland tent so definitely next year for them). After signing in as press we all had our blogger wristbands wide eyed, and excited to explore the venue.
The parent super hero pack is a full schedule iteniary and map for the three days so I do recommend a quick download and print out before you get there, as with any children event expect queueing, so its best to have some idea of where you would like to start. The only negative I have about the event is that there are easily 1000 kids there, so I would recommend having two of every stall, a cupcake decorating is fantastic, but if it can only houses 8 kids it obviously won’t work so make it bigger, or at least have a few dotted round the arena to avoid disappointment. (the same for face painting there were maybe 10 face painters make it 30!) The River Island kids Design Den was fully booked for the entire day and I got there at 2pm ( Lollibop is open 10-6) Get in there quick, your little one can design their own t-shirt, and have a picture taken with their creation. An extra bonus is the 15% discount on the latest River Island kids range, my daughter got a gorgeous neon orange dress with cute cut outs at the neckline. Below is the gallery inside the design den click on any picture for a full screen view.
